Birthday Blog Hop Day #2

Welcome back to Day #2 of the Birthday Blog Hop!
If you have just hopped on the tour, please go to the first stop on the hop at Samantha's Cricut Creations (www.samanthascricutcreations.blogspot.com). If you have arrived from http://gloriasgoofycraftspot.blogspot.com/ then you are in the right place. Thanks for hopping by!

My daughter's birthday is coming up and she loves horses!  In fact, we're taking a couple of girls horseback riding for her party, so these are the invitations I created.  I used cloud patterned paper for the background (it's one sided so the inside is white!) and then cut the horse (three layers) from My World.  I cut "Howdy" from Create a Critter, along with the grass.  I welded the taller end grass to the shorter middle grasses and created a little grassy field for him.  Lastly, I took a Versa Watermark pen, and added details to the horse and grass!

Hope you like it and I love comments and new followers!

100th Post and Birthday Blog Hop Day #1

It's my 100th post!  Wahoo!

Now, onto business...
The Birthday Blog Hop Day #1
If you have just hopped on the tour, please go to the first stop on the hop at Samantha's Cricut Creations (www.samanthascricutcreations.blogspot.com). If you have arrived from  http://gloriasgoofycraftspot.blogspot.com/ then you are in the right place. Thanks for hopping by!

My Dad's birthday is Monday, August 1st, so I made this special shape card for him!
My parents "full-time" in a motor home and travel all over the country visiting any place they want!  It's quite the life!  So, I though he definitely needed an RV shape card.  Luckily I have the Camping cart, and had one readily available.  I cut the shadow (black), the body (cream) and then the shell (tan).  While I thought this looked good, it needed something else.  I hand cut the windows and headlights to added a little pop of color.  I also added two small mat silver brads for rear tires and one larger one for the front tire.  Lastly, I cut the star from Home Decor (twice) and added it to the back.  I thought the RV needed a little "birthday" pop!

Thanks for looking and I love comments and new followers!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for another great birthday card!

Now, head to Courtney at  www.craftingwithcourtney.blogspot.com!  She is so creative!  You will love her project!

Christmas Pageant

"St. Bart's Christmas Pageant"
2008
I LOVE the photos of my children from this Christmas pageant!  The picture of my daughter (left) dressed as the donkey that carried Mary is adorable.  She is singing her SOLO at age 5.  She is so brave!  Austin has such a wistful look on his face as he is a shepherd.  This is the last layout I had from the CK convention and I thought it's simplicity really played up the pictures.  (Layout from the SimpliCraft Double Dare class.)

Thankful Thursday Design Team Post--Movies!

Movie theme???  Hmmm...I had a great idea for this project a couple of weeks ago and then it left me.  I thought, and thought, and thought...and then remembered the photos of my daughter taking part in a Dr. Seuss musical at school!  Ah-ha!  Inspiration struck!
Here is the current project for the Design Team and love how this layout turned out!
"Seussical the Musical"
March 2011
My daughter's class worked with their fabulous music teacher and these 2nd graders put on a great musical based on all of Dr. Seuss's books.  It was hysterical!  The songs were about his books and each child had a set of tongue-twister lines that helped the story line flow.  It was fabulous to watch the kids perform!

This layout really evolved and took two days for me to get "flushed" out.  This isn't my normal style as I normally just get it done...I even fell asleep last night thinking about how the layout should look.  The great news, I LOVE THIS LAYOUT!  :)  I cut one piece of Color Mates (light autumn red) cardstock  into four, three inch pieces.  I inked the edges with black ink for added definition.  I then cut "Suessical the Musical" from Opposites Attract.  I used scrap papers for all the other cuts, so I have no idea manufacturers!  (Love using up my scraps!)  I then cut out fish (Red Fish, Blue Fish) from An Ocean of Words.  I used a black pen to add stitching detail and fins to the fish.  A couple of googly eyes completed the look!
Then I added two green eggs (Green Eggs and Ham) from Smiley Cards and inked their edges as well.  I used the Peachy Keen stamp set and black ink to stamp the cute faces.  I used foam tape to pop one up a little bit for some dimension.

My favorite embellishment is this Cat in the Hat with his stack of books.  Do you remember him balancing everything????  Well, I thought it would be cute to balance a stack of books and then a photo on top!  I LOVE how this turned out.  I cut the books from Locker Talk and cut the shadow (black) and then the books twice (once in green and once in blue).  I had to hand piece the blue books on top of the green, but it was worth it!  I even added more foam tape for added dimension.  I then cut the "pages" out of textured white cardstock.  I thought it might look more like a stack of pages this way.  I then found a clip art image of The Cat in the Hat online (a coloring page!) and fussy cut him out.  I trimmed off the rest of the page as all I wanted was him and his hand to hold the stack of books.  I colored him with colored pencils and then popped him up with foam tape as well.  I even tucked part of his glove behind and then in front of the books to look like he is really holding them!  Lastly, I drew wavy lines to write my journaling on; once the journaling was dry, I carefully erased the pencil marks.

Thanks for looking and I love comments!

FUN!

"Fun"
2008
Ever have extra pictures that you really want to showcase, but don't "fit" anywhere else?  As I scrapbooked, I created a pile of photos that I loved but couldn't seem to fit anywhere.  Maybe I liked them because they are my only photo of my daughter sucking her thumb, or my son with his rat, or the kids reading together in a moment of sibling cooperation.  Whatever the reason, I knew I needed to use them!  I made this layout in the SimpliCraft's Double Dare class and I thought it would be perfect for a random assortment of photos.  My favorite part of the layout?  The folded over flower on the right hand side of the page!

Science Fair Layout

"Science Fair"
3/09
Here's the final layout from the Keller's Creations class at the CK convention.  I love the circles, especially those that are scalloped!  Did you see the large half circle on the left hand side?  Isn't it cute?

Here's a picture with the half circle lifted up!  There is a row of mini tags underneath that can showcase even more photos!  Be sure to check out Keller's Creations webpage at http://www.acidfree.com/index.cfm?lid=1.  I am not a sponsor, nor am I paid for any advertising!  I just like her papers and her layouts!

Christmas Concert

"Christmas Concert"
December 2008
Here's another quick layout that I made at the CK Convention in the Keller's Creations class.  I love the circles and the film stripe effect along the bottom!

One thing Keller's creations is known for is her license plate papers.  Here is one that has been cut to be divided over the 2 pages, but it's really cute.  I added some ribbon in the slits.  (See a past post about a wall hanging using the mini-license plates to see another idea with them!)

"Turning 8"
April 2009
This is another layout I completed at a class at the CK Convention in Portland, this time, I took the Keller's Creations class.  I really like her bright colors and thicker papers.  Her website is:  http://www.acidfree.com/index.cfm?lid=1  I thought the bright papers and circles really lent itself to a birthday layout!
I added the letter stickers to spell words (like Lego's, fun, bike) to capture the birthday, but everything else came in the class!

I really like the rhombus in the middle with the folded back triangles!  Doesn't it make a cute frame?  Enjoy!

Ballet Dance Recital Layout #2

"So Cute!"
May 2008
Layout #2 of Dance Recital.
This layout was also made at the Double Dare class by SimpliCraft!  I like the swoops on the page!

These little accents definitely helped the page come together.  This is not my normal style, but sometimes it's fun to experiment!

Laugh--Family Reunion Layout

"Laugh"
May 2008
This set of photos was taken in Tucson, AZ during a family reunion of sorts. My kids are with their great-grandparents!  It was a wonderful time for everyone to get to know each other better.
The layout is another product from the Double Dare class at CK Portland.  The company is called SimpliCraft and I love the look of the large accent on this page.  Rumor has it that she cut this accent with the Cricut!

Tiny Dancer

"Tiny Dancer"
May 2008
Isn't she cute?  This is my daughter at a ballet recital when she was in Kindergarten!  Now, on to the LO!  I attended a class at the CK Convention-Portland, that offered this layout, along with three others.  The class was called Double Dare and it was taught by Vicki Shepherd from SimpliCraft, a new company.  (Unfortunately, she doesn't seem to have a web presence yet!)
I added the white foam letters to each circle and the brackets to frame the pictures along the bottom.

Thanks for looking and I love comments! :)

Thankful Thursday Design Team Post--Red, White and Blue!

Welcome to Thankful Thursday's  Red, White and Blue Design Team Posts!

One would expect a 4th of July layout or craft, right????  Well, I'm thinking outside the box, once again, and I scrapped a set of pictures from our visit to see Santa.  (Yes, we're celebrating Christmas in July on my blog, or so it seems!)

Here's my completed 2 page, 12x12 layout!

I used a great patterned paper (maker/name unknown!) that is silvery blue with white swirls and red, white and blue dots.
I matted a border of photos in silvery blue and then matted again with just a thin strip of red showing on the right (for the left border)!  I then matted the professional Santa picture with a wide red and skinny blue mat.  I cut the "Santa" title using Opposites Attract.  It's my newest Cricut Cartridge and I love it!  I added a few crystals to the title for a little sparkle.

I then created a photo block for the right hand page and matted the photos onto a large piece of silvery blue.  I then double matted in red.  I used Queen & Co's Shaped Bling Swirl Red Heart to add a little something to the photo block. I then used little crystals in red and clear to stick on top of every red and clear dot on the background paper.  I purchased these crystals in the Dollar Bin at Michael's and I love them because they already have adhesive on them!

In the end,  a fun red, white and blue layout showing that you can "break the rules" and still follow them at the same time!  Hee  hee!

Thanks for looking and I love comments!
