Growin' up

Rarely do I do single page layouts, but here is one that I LOVE!
A layout showing how my baby girl is growin' up!  I bought these stickers to use with pictures of her playing with her dolls, but never got around to it!  I think they are just perfect!
Recipe:
Rose colored background paper
Scrapabilities Chipboard alphabet with the J cut to be an apostrophe
PC Christina Cole Stickers "Baby Girl"

Hope you like it as much as I do!

Family Fun

Here's a simple 2 page layout featuring some cute family photos taken on the Polar Express Train.  (A layout for the actual train ride is in the works, but is really complicated!)  To balance that, here is a simple one!
I used 2 pieces of SEI's Savory Barn Stripe paper.  I rotated one so that the stripes were both on the outside edge, rather than both stripes on the right hand side.  I matted my photos in green and red to match the stripes.  I cut out "Family Fun" from the Life's A Beach cartridge, and I just carefully trimmed off the fish!  You can't even see where they were supposed to be! :)
I found a cute package of Christmas stickers from Paper Studios (La Petites Whimsy Cmas 3-d stickers) and I added them through out my layout.  And that's it!

Snow Angels and Gypsy Trick

I'm so excited to share with you this layout and trick I figured out on my Gypsy!  I had so many pictures of the snow storm of 2008, that I had to do two, 2-page layouts!  The first layout was posted yesterday and features some people, but lots of scenery.  Today the photos are of snow fun! :)
"Snow Angels"
This was created on a turquiose paper that totally looks a differeent shade in the photo!  I matted all my photos on brick red and white to complement the snowmen felt stickers I had.

I cut the title "Snow Angels" out of Winter Frolic BUT it only said "Snow Angel" and I have 2 kids!  I noticed that the angel font looked a lot like Gypsy, and guess what, it was!  I put the words "snow angel", the shadow, the gypsy font "s" and the shadow to the "s" all on the same layer.  I adjusted the snow angel and its shadow together to keep them in ratio.  Then I magnified my Gypsy screen and carefully slid the s (and its shadow) over to the word angel.  I enlarged the s until it appeared the same size (and as I was doing this, the shadow was growing too!). I then grouped and welded the words "Snow Angel" and the "s" together.  I then moved the shadows to another layer on my Gypsy and once again carefully lined up the shadow of the "s" to the shadow of the words.  I left the layers so you could see through and line them up to match and I was able to group and weld these as well.  I think it looks great!  :)

I then added a package of Basic Grey felt stickers called Jovial--Woolies.  They are super cute fuzzy snowmen, presents, stars and birds!  It really made a cute and quick page!

Snow Storm 2008

I know, I know, 2008???? But I am getting caught up slowly but surely!  Here's a layout with 13 pictures, with 7 being 4x6!  My friend Toni and I laugh that we're masters at cramming photos on pages!  Take a look!

I used a light blue background paper and decided not to mat my photos due to the large amount of them and how "busy" the layout was.

Left side:  I used three 4x6 photos down the left hand side, leaving a small blue border.  I then cropped three 2" square photos and a couple other photos to create the photo block.  Then I used Simply Treats and typed out Snow Storm minus the o's.  I had a wonderful package of glittered chipboard snowflakes that already had adhesive!  I used 2 small ones for the o's and added one to the upper left corner.
The right side was really easy!  I grouped five 4x6 photos, overlapping as needed to get a perfect square.  I then adhered a few more chipboard snowflakes and was done.

NOW ON TO A PROBLEM I WAS HAVING!
I would crop and fix my photos in Picassa and then upload them to Blogger.  Somewhere between Picassa and the upload to Blogger, they rotated.  Not every time, just sometimes!  It was making me crazy!  In Picassa they were the correct way, but then, voila!, they were rotated!  Luckily, I found a solution on the internet!  Here it is for all of you experiencing the same problem:
Open up Picasa and select the photograph that uploaded incorrectly. On the top right above the picture there is a button to edit the photo - click on it and Picnik opens. Rotate the photo in this web based editing software and when you click save to my album choose to replace. Then go back to Blogger, choose to upload from Picasa, and select the photo from there. It may still look wrong in the thumbnail preview, but once it is placed on the Blogger page it should be correct.   From:  Firedrops at http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/blogger/thread?tid=3dadabf526cdd529&hl=en

Have your CAKE and eat it too!

This was a quick and easy birthday card for my wonderful sister-in-law!  I used a few scraps of paper from "A 29th Street Market."  The shabby chic bluish-purple background paper was cut to be 5x4 when folded.  I then cut out the cupcake from the Smiley cart. I cut the bottom in another scrap of 29th Street Market paper and the top in white.  I inked the edges of everything, the card, cupcake and cupcake topping with Margareta ink.  I then used my great Peachy Keen face stamps to add the cute face.  I used my finger tip to add little cheeks using the same Margareta ink.  I hand wrote the saying "Have your CAKE and eat it too!"  I added a small strip of patterned paper (same line) across the top and then tied a matching ribbon scrap around the top.

Inside I mounted another strip of paper on the bottom half of the card (see the fleur de lis??)  The great thing about this line of paper is it is all reversible! :)  Then I added a solid block to the inside to show the sentiment.  I cut the HA-P B-DAY from the Smiley cart and mounted it on a solid paper.  I inked all the edges again!  In the end, a cute and easy card!

It's All About the Green Blog Hop Day #2

It's All About the Green Blog Hop
Day #2
And a New Project!!!!
You should have arrived from Melissa's page at http://disneydreamerdesigns.blogspot.com/
If not, please go back to the beginning at Kathryn's page http://wamfamily.blogspot.com/ and enjoy all the great projects!

I am such a lucky person because of all the great things I have in my life, and I wanted a scrapbooking page to showcase that.  This was a new type of layout since I normally scrapbook events, but I really enjoyed creating it.  The hardest part was choosing what "Lucky" things to feature!

Sorry for the bad lighting, but it's pouring down rain outside and I just couldn't get a great picture without a flash!  This is a 2 page, 12x12 layout.  The all the papers except for the title are from The Green Tea Stack from DCWV.  It had 48 coordinating sheets of paper, which I love to work with!
I cut the title in two parts.  First "Lucky" was cut from the Create a Critter cartridge.  But, I really wanted the title to read "So Lucky", but I couldn't find a great "so."  Time to improvise!  I cut the "So Cute" from Create a Critter as well, being sure to cut it the same size as the Lucky.  I made sure they were the same ratio by layering the U from cute over the U in lucky and changing the size on my Gypsy until they aligned.  I then separated the two titles and had the Cricut cut both.  (I tried hiding portions of So Cute, but I couldn't hide letters...)  I then took scissors and cut the C, T, E portion of CUTE off and layered the So and the U (from cute) over the U in lucky!  Now my title says, "So Lucky" and you can't even tell I pieced it together!  I matted the whole title on brown from the same paper stack.

I cut out several clovers from Indie Art and wrote other things that show how lucky I am!  I added a lighter green large mat (for a 4x6 photo) and wrote in brown along the bottom "to be married to Matt."  I adhered a couple pieces of green glass squares to the bottom with glue dots for a little more bling.  (The 2 clovers say "for my health" and "to be a teacher.  It is my passion!")

The second page continues the same page.  I added another green mat and then a brown mat for 2, 4x6 photos.  I wrote along the bottom of the green mat "to have a house I love" and added several shades of green glass again.  The brown mat says "for Austin and Maddie," my kids.  I used Green Magic mesh and ran it from the right side of the right page to the brown photo mat.  I layered a larger brown clover over the top and then stuck a smaller green clover to the top.  Where the green mesh overlaps the brown mat, I used more glue dots and stuck on some more green glass and then a sparkly cut glass circle.  The two clovers say "for my 2 dogs" and "to be alive, in love and happy!"

It's All About the Green Blog Hop Day #1

It's All About the Green Blog Hop
Day #1

You should have arrived from Melissa's page at http://disneydreamerdesigns.blogspot.com/  If not, please go back to the beginning at Kathryn's page  http://wamfamily.blogspot.com/ and enjoy all the great projects!

I knew with St. Patrick's Day approaching that I wanted to a make a St. Patrick's Day decoration for my house, especially since I'm partially Irish! :)  After searching through my Cricut cartridges, I realized I really didn't have any St. Patrick's Day items on my cartridges, so I had to make due.  In the end this project turned out really cute, and it's one of my favorite things I've created!
Be sure to read to the bottom for a chance to win blog candy!
Everything seen here was cut by the Cricut! :)  I love my gypsy for this type of project!
First, since I didn't have any cartridges that had a four leaf clover, I used George and Basic shapes to layer 4 hearts, a rectangle and a circle (for the base of the stem) to create a four leaf clover.  I rotated the hearts and lined everything up to make it look like I wanted.  I cut it first in dark green.
Then I raided my recycling and I used a granola bar box to make some thin chipboard.  I wanted to have a stronger backing for the 4 leaf clover.  I broke open the box, removed any sticky areas and then made sure I stuck it to my mat really well.  I then changed the blade depth to 6, and put pressure on maximum.  I cut the 4 leaf clover again.  I then mounted the green cardstock clover to the cardboard clover to make it stiffer and stronger.

Next, I cut a banner from the Christmas Cartridge.  I stretched it larger than 12 inches and cut it once in the same dark green.  Then I scooted the banner to each edge of the mat so only the bows showed (There wasn't a layer for the bows alone.)  and then I cut the bows in light green.

I had hand cut the edges connecting to the banner to make the bows stand alone.  I used a green gel pen to add detail lines.  I then cut "A Wee Bit Irish" in white with the same light green as a shadow.  I used the Simply Sweet font.  I also found a 3 leaf clover on Indie Art.  I cut it out in a matching pattern paper and inked the edges green.

Next, I made a leprechaun using bits and pieces from Every Day paper dolls.  Paper Doll Dress Up has a leprechaun, but of course, I don't have that cartridge.  First, I cut about a 6 inch body out of tan paper.  I then used the baseball players shirt and pants to cut the light green shirt and the striped pants.
I then cut the fisherman's vest and hat in dark green.  I unlocked the ratio lock on the hat and stretched it taller so it would look more like a top hat.  I hand cut the light green stripe across the hat and used the same Indie art 3 leaf clover for an accent.  On the vest I added 2 large orange brads at the pockets.  I popped the 3 leaf clover and the vest up with popdots for added dimension.  I used George and Basic Shapes to make the buckles for the hat and his boots.  I cut 3 rounded corner squares with the center removed.  I had gold seed beads, so I applied Zig pen glue and stick the seed beads to it.  (The are really cute in person!)  I cut the hair and bow tie in orange and adding orange ink to the edges and gel pen accents.  Lastly, I added two googly eyes and drew the smile on in black Zig marker.  Lastly, I stuck my finger in a red ink pad and used it to make cute little cheeks.  I love him!

Next, I used copper wire to attach the 4 leaf clover to the banner.  I was sure to punch the holes through the cardboard as well.  (I even added some small cardboard squares to the back of the banner to reinforce it as well!)  I also added copper wire to the top to make a hanger.

Here it is hanging on my front door!

White Chandelier Wall Decal

Maddie's Wall Decor!

My daughter LOVES American Girl and a couple of years ago we were able to take her to the American Girl Store in Los Angeles.  The store is decorated in white, hot pink and black.  There is a diamond print pattern on the walls and chandeliers everywhere.  Maddie wanted a special wall decal of a chandelier for her bedroom.  I used Home Decor (love that cartridge!) and cut out the chandelier.  To make is so large, I used my 12x24 mat and then cut it in 2 pieces; the left side and then the right side.  There is a seam down the center of the chandelier, but it's not noticeable.  I then just applied the contact paper to my daughter's wall and it looks great!  Such a simple project to make her room really special!

Don't forget about the blog hop this Saturday and Sunday!  I will have new project each day, so be sure to check back!

Boy Scout Emblem for table decorations

This was a quick and easy project!  I used the Home Decor cartridge and picked a Fleur de lis that most closely resembled the Boy Scout crest.  I then used chipboard weight gold glitter paper and cut the shadow.  I cut it at pressure high, speed 3 and blade depth 6.  I then cut it twice for good measure.  They all popped out without an issue.  Then I cut the blue layer out and adhered them together with my ATG gun.  (Love that adhesive!)  Besides getting gold glitter everywhere, this project was quick and easy.  I made 20 of them for the Boy Scout Blue and Gold dinner and they were used as part of the centerpieces.  NOTE:  AFTER CUTTING GLITTER PAPER OR FOAM, REMOVE THE BLADE AND MAKE SURE TO REMOVE ANY CAUGHT GLITTER.  The blade tends to pick up glitter and then not cut well until it is cleaned!
Don't forget about this weekend's BLOG HOP!  It features a very talented group of women who will be showcasing a new project EACH day, so stop by twice!  Blog candy will be offered on some of the pages!  See you Saturday!
